Tutoring, or teaching to individuals or small groups, is an incredibly
rewarding way to go, completely different than presenting something to
a classroom at large. The main advantage is that the feedback loop is
much faster and better so that I can learn where the student is much
faster and thereby make much faster progress with them.
Basic astronomy starter kit, where most items are self explanatory. Not
so obvious in purpose are the bottles of water, caro corn syrup, and
windex. These are useful together with water, dirt, and dry ice, in
building a nice comet in a mixing bowl.
This is Antonin, a Device With
Unknown Purpose. It works very well as an Alien Artifact (or
other object for inquiry). When the student determines how to solve it,
it spits out the coordinates of a star which of course can be worked
into further investigation.
Materials for investigating electricity and magnetism. This includes
the simplest-ever electric motor, a lamp, a coil, some pipes and
alligator clips and other miscellany, and most famously a couple of
cow-magnets.
