Conundrums

These pages are not Encyclopedic, being rather a journey through ideas where I try to reach a level of understanding that meets a rather nebulous 'criterion of satisfaction'.

Consider gravity. I have a solid fundamental belief that gravity operates consistently in my vicinity.  But I hear that gravity gets messy and interesting near a black hole, and that on a Universe Scale there is evidence for gravitational forces that push massses apart... and why do physicists speak about quantum gravity and why did Einstein spend the last 40 years of his life trying to show that gravity and electromagnetism were different forms of a deeper force?  (Abraham Pais goes a long way towards answering this question on a personal level.)

So while I have a good starting familiarity with it, I am not yet satisfied with my understanding of gravity; I can either ignore this dissastisfaction or I can search to remedy it.  So If and As I make progress, I'll write it into these pages.

Here is a partial list of conundrums, subjects that I would like to get a better handle on.

Can the Bohr correspondence principle be worked the other way...
That is, can one think of classical mechics as derived from the quantum world?
Tunnels / Wormholes, philosophical and physical.
How does one fall through a wormhole from complex analysis into the distribution of primes?
Invariance and symmetry in physical systems.
How does quantum mechanics mesh with relativity, with statistical mechanics?
Why does entropy mean?
Which physical systems make good "illustrative" representations of physical laws?
How did Dirac's work progress through QED circa 1950?
How does CP-violation work?
Why is there something instead of nothing?
