Cosmic Rays: Introducing Electric Fields

This experiment will require a better cloud chamber (better viewing conditions), preferably one made from glass. The second thing necessary is to introduce a couple of metal plates and wires in from a high voltage source. The simplest high-voltage source I know of is to use a big sheet of aluminum foil taped to the front of a TV. It is charged by toggling the TV power. Charge builds up on the aluminum foil and can be bled onto one of two parallel plates inside the cloud chamber to create an electric field. I have no idea what sort of voltage or field strength will be necessary to bend particle tracks. This experiment is on the ToDo list.
