Radio

The purpose of this page is to introduce you the reader to The Single Most Important Radio Program in this country.  Where this country happens to be the United States. Of America.

This radio program is an hour-long show that airs each week, usually on the weekend, hosted by a guy named Ira Glass. I would not mention this radio program were it not for the fact that you are on a computer where you can listen to old episodes any time you like via streaming audio.  All you need is a dial-up line and a copy of RealAudio player. And you can get that by going to the program's home page and following their instructions.

If there was only one book I could give to a person that I didn't know... well, it's an impossibly tough choice (perhaps it would be Art Spiegelman's Maus...)  But if there was only one web site I could send someone to; well, that's easy, because it is far-and-away the most valuable thing I've found.  Ready? It is called:

This American Life

Seriously, before you read any further, check the name of that program.  If you already know about it, great; go on with what ever you are doing.  If you do not know about this radio program, and if it is at all possible, click on that link and go set up the free copy of RealAudio if you need it.  Then listen to one of the shows under Our Favorites.  Really.
