This is our new daughter at six days. We like her a lot. You're probably thinking "My gosh! She's demonstrating the Heisenberg uncertainty principle with her arm! While asleep!" This is quite true but a little misleading.  We won't be sure this is what she had in mind until we find some common language... We've tried English, Greek, Dutch, Urdu, French, Number Theory, Sanskrit, German, ASL... in short every language we know but so far no luck.

Here (we think) she is demonstrating the Bohr correspondence principle in the classical limit.

But we're getting ahead of ourselves; let's back up to the start. Here are ten photos from Isabella's first few minutes of life, 7:30 in the morning on July 29, 2005 at Avista New Life Center in Louisville Colorado. With brief captions.  The ensuing pages will continue in the same manner.

When they are born at 5300 feet elevation sometimes babies get a little extra oxygen to get going. Isabella liked this notion.

...and as quickly as we could pry her away from the kind nurse she's back to mom.

This is the first of several typical "bundle" pictures. What's in the bundle? What's in the bundle? What are the people looking at?? (It's Isabella as you may have guessed although she did not receive her name until the next day.)

Having Erica's mom Marianne here with us was incredibly wonderful. Particularly speaking for myself because I miss my mom a lot. Moms are cool.

It's great when things are going well.

Erica got through 12 hours of labor pretty cheerfully I think. So did Isabella for that matter. Although she could use a little shampoo. We'll get to that.

When you're a big sister it's a pretty big deal to hold your little sister for the first time...

...and Asimina has proven a natural. Isabella calms down when Sammy holds her.

Whoa! We got a baby here!

And Oma is entranced as well.
